Full Job Description
Sword is a leading provider of business technology solutions within the Energy, Public and Finance Sectors, dedicated to driving transformational change for our clients. We leverage proven technology, specialist teams, and extensive domain expertise to create robust technical foundations across platforms, data, and business applications. Our mission is fueled by a passion for technology as a means to solve complex business problems and achieve our clients' objectives. **About the Role:** The Project Wintel and Systems Engineer plays a key role in the design and delivery of secure, resilient, and scalable Microsoft infrastructure solutions as part of a major transformation programme for a large client in the energy sector. This is not a traditional BAU support role. It is a project-focused engineering position centred on the design, build, testing, migration, and controlled handover of next-generation systems platforms that support business growth, security, and operational resilience. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise across core Microsoft infrastructure technologies, with the ability to move confidently between detailed design work and hands-on delivery. They will be comfortable producing low-level designs, supporting proof-of-concept activity, building and validating solutions, and working directly with senior stakeholders and blue-chip customers. The role requires someone who can contribute across the full project lifecycle, from technical discovery and design through to implementation, testing, migration, and handover. Candidates should have a strong enterprise Wintel background, ideally supported by Microsoft certifications such as MCSE, MCITP, MCSA, MCTS, or relevant Azure certifications. Citrix, VMware, or related platform certifications would be advantageous. Experience in regulated or critical infrastructure environments such as energy, oil and gas, defence, or Operational Technology would be beneficial. **Key Responsibilities**
