External contacts include patients, families, physicians and outside organizations and agencies. **Responsibilities:** * Communicates with participants in a sensitive manner regarding lifestyle, medical history, nutritional practices and income * Performs clerical tasks, including answering phones, prequalifying prospective clients, scheduling appointments, making reminder calls, etc. * Uses participant-centered techniques to provide personalized nutrition education/referrals and to educate pregnant women on how to initiate and sustain breastfeeding and to help breastfeeding clients solve common breastfeeding problems * Assesses participants’ health and nutrition status using Washington State WIC Assessment Questions * Ability and willingness to meet with families individually in clinic and virtually. * This position may work in any clinic location operated by MHS WIC Services across Pierce County, use of personal vehicle is required • Communicates in person and remotely with participants in a sensitive manner regarding lifestyle, medical history, nutritional practices and income * Evaluates income and health risks to determine participant program eligibility * Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques * Uses participant-centered techniques to provide personalized nutrition education/referrals and to educate pregnant women on how to initiate and s
