Must Have
Medical Office Administration diploma, 1 year clerical/admin experience in healthcare, Medical terminology certificate, Experience with Meditech Patient Information System, Experience with other patient care related databases, Familiarity with computers and accessory equipment, Advanced keyboarding skills, Extremely accurate data entry skills, Experience using Microsoft Office applications, Minimum of 30 wpm typing speed, Accurate spelling, Able to work with minimal supervision, Able to prioritize work, Excellent interpersonal skills, Excellent organizational skills, Able to read, write, speak and understand English fluently, Excellent customer service skills, Diplomatically respond to inquiries, Meet physical demands of position, Satisfactory employment and attendance record

What You'll Do.
Monitor unit schedules
Fill vacancies and sick calls
Assist with patient/visitor flow
Review demographic information
Fax referrals for clinics
Track information for appointments
Assist with organizing discharges
Arrange follow-up appointments
Perform unit data entry
Place reminder calls for appointments
Prepare unit specific patient information packages
Prepare discharge packages
Review and organize invoices
Audit visibility in unit to match signage to
Complete patient surveys
Complete DC follow-up calls
Register patients using Meditech software
Register newborns with Service Ontario
Transcribe physician orders
Validate healthcare coverage
Validate appropriate insurance information
Obtain required signatures
Obtain information and payment method for uninsured patients
Enter data for uninsured patients
Admit patients following established protocols
Collaborate with nursing unit staff regarding bed allocation
Update information in McKesson Visibility
Collaborate with Clinical Resource Nurse
Create treatment records
Close treatment records
Address inquiries from public
Complete various clerical tasks
Work with accommodation staff
Identify opportunities to meet patient preferred accommodations
Enter e-Schedule entries
Edit e-Schedule entries
Enter Maintenance requests

Duties will include a variety of reception and clerical functions including: * Monitoring unit schedules – filling vacancies and sick calls * Assisting with the flow of patients and/or visitors on the unit * Maintaining staff lists i.e. skills/training needs inventory list, fan out and Outlook lists * Equipment management - tracking etc. * Supporting Registration - demographic information review * Referral faxing for clinics, tracking down information to support appointment * Assisting with organizing discharges – follow-up appointments, copying charts/printing charts * Unit data entry requirements - report generation etc. * Placing reminder Calls – for appointments * Preparing unit specific patient information packages - Discharge packages * Invoice Review – review and organization prior to manager approvals * Auditing on Visibility in unit to match signage to patient (i.e bell indicator) * Completing patient surveys, DC follow-up calls (Accreditation Standard for Rehab) * Registers patients using Meditech software * Registers newborns with Service Onta
