Ability to climb, bend, traverse steep and uneven terrain, Exposure to extreme temperature conditions, Lifting up to 50lbs repeatedly, Exerting up 100lbs of force occasionally, Subject to emergency callback, May require work during nontraditional work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, Legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions, Pre-employment drug testing required, Sign release form (ALCDRG-01) and background statement (ALCDRG-06), Safety toe footwear needed

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

six years of experience operating equipment directly related to the area, Possession of a current Commercial Driver’s License on the date of hire, OR the North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Intermediate Work Zone Safety & NCDOT Workplace Safety policy and practices, Experience in shoulder and ditch maintenance, Experience in pipe installation, Experience in asphalt patching, Demonstrated ability to supervise and to train others in equipment operations, Demonstrated ability to directing the daily activities of a work crew, Experience in snow and ice removal operations, Working knowledge of standard road maintenance and construction procedures

Perform progressively responsible maintenance tasks

Serve as lead worker of a highway maintenance crew

Install traffic & erosion control devices

Perform roadway grading

Machine unpaved roads

Perform pavement repair

Perform pipe installation or other drainage tasks

Perform snow & ice removal

Inspect contract work

Monitor manual tasks performed

Operate various pieces of equipment
