You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date. This posting is for a Transportation Worker II position in the Davie County Maintenance Unit. Work will consist of a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in preventive maintenance, repair and construction of state-maintained roads and roadside features. Duties include, but are not limited to, installation of traffic and erosion control devices, clearing of right of way, roadway grading, machining unpaved roads, pavement repair, pipe installation and other drainage tasks, inspecting contract work, and monitoring manual tasks performed. This position is subject to emergency callback and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances. Emergency responses include traffic accident clean-up, snow and ice removal, and other emergencies as they occur. Must have ability to act upon both verbal and written communication. May perform variety of other assigned duties. Additional Expectations: Working knowledge of the principles involved in the operation and use of the equipment to which assigned.
