Safety-toed shoes required, Must be at least 21 years of age to transport inmates, Must obtain NC Commercial Driver’s License within 360 days if not currently held, Pre-employment drug testing required, Must complete and sign release and background statement for controlled substance and alcohol testing
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement, Ability to obtain an inmate card (requires criminal history check, training, orientation, and minimum age of 21)
Nice to Have
Working knowledge of Work Zone Safety and Workplace safety policies, Working knowledge of standard road maintenance and construction procedures, Experience in at least two pieces of Category Maintenance equipment, Experience in one of the following: pipe installation, installation of erosion control devices, snow and ice removal, ditch maintenance or asphalt patching, Experience in snow and ice removal operations
What You'll Do.
Perform maintenance and repair of state-maintained roads
Install traffic control devices
Repair asphalt pavements
Clear right of way of debris and hazards
Assist with pipe installation
Operate a variety of hand and power tools
Operate various equipment
Monitor tasks performed by inmates and other workers
Respond to emergencies
Transport inmates for work detail
