Working knowledge of Work Zone Safety and Workplace safety policies, Working knowledge of standard road maintenance and construction procedures, Experience in at least two pieces of Category Maintenance equipment, Experience in one of the following: pipe installation, installation of erosion control devices, snow and ice removal, ditch maintenance or asphalt patching, Experience in snow and ice removal operations

This posting if for a Transportation Worker II position located in the Rowan County Maintenance Unit. This work is related to the maintenance and repair of State-maintained roads within Rowan County. This position will report to the Rowan County Maintenance Office. Work will consist of a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in the preventive maintenance, repair and construction of State maintained roads. Work includes setting up work zones, installing traffic control devices, repairing asphalt pavements, clearing right of way of debris and hazards, assisting with pipe installation, and operating a variety of hand and power tools. This work includes the operation of various equipment that includes but is not limited to an asphalt maintainer, asphalt patch truck, tandem dump truck, crack sealing machine, rollers, sweepers, skid steer, and backhoe.
