What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the collection and analysis of economic and social data and information, or in the administration of public transportation programs or or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of multimodal, bicycle, pedestrian and transit planning principles, techniques, and procedures and their interrelationship, Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State laws, guidelines and funding programs related to multimodal, bicycle, pedestrian and public transportation infrastructure and systems, Demonstrated ability to manage multiple planning and research projects and studies, Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats and establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of state, federal and/or local officials

What You'll Do.

Perform statewide planning initiatives/tasks

Provide technical assistance with multimodal transportation planning

Assist with planning initiatives

Provide State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) programmatic support

Coordinate with internal and external partners

Implement activities related to federal and state planning programs

Support strategic planning efforts

Conduct special statewide and regional studies

Conduct technical research projects

Assist staff with creation of best practices

Assist transit agencies on managing projects

Provide assistance with state and federal funding processes

Assist division staff with programs

policy implementation

Ensure Division is meeting federal and state programmatic requirements

Ensure Division is on target to meet other metrics

Provide guidance to other business units

Present information to transit agencies

Administering and developing transportation monitoring

Evaluation of public transportation planning

Developing program policies

Administering studies

Developing new transportation programs

Establishing strategies to address identified needs

Providing technical guidance to other NCDOT units

Participate in planning and project activities

Participate in funding programs

Serve on regional planning bodies

Coordinate with other state agencies

Promote transportation-related economic development

Develop and implement bicycle

pedestrian and transit safety programs

Collect and summarize data

Mapping and evaluating geographic networks
