High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), Broad knowledge of toolmaking including machining methods, cutting qualities of metals and plastics, machine shop practices, shop metallurgy and plating., Work from complicated drawings and sketches and make calculations involving advanced shop mathematics including geometry., Use a variety of precision measuring instruments & equipment., Equivalent to 4 year apprenticeship in tool, die and gage making., 5 + years of experience.

What You'll Do.

Plan and perform fabrication work to conceive

alter and repair tools

Investigate and eliminate unusual or ongoing problems requiring independent action to resolve production problems

design complications and develop new techniques.

Interpret broad instructions and drawings to plan and layout material requirements.

Determine sequences of project phases and prepare control tapes.

Estimate jobs and support services to meet changing schedules and priorities.

Follow-up to verify project completion and specifications.

Perform installations

maintenance and repair work on tooling.

Carry out preventive maintenance and service.

Develop unique ways to more effectively utilize tools and equipment to resolve production bottlenecks.

Monitor and service equipment to ensure product integrity.

Review and prepare for new tooling or equipment installations.

Commend service requirements and check out operations to specification requirements.

Perform similar duties throughout the facility.

Assist other trades working on joint projects.
