WVEC-TV the TEGNA-owned affiliate in Norfolk, VA seeks a Temporary Broadcast Director. This role will support our production team on a short-term basis, directing daily newscasts and other local programming using both production automation and manual switching. The Broadcast Director will partner closely with news, production, and technical teams to deliver fast-paced, compelling, and high-quality newscasts. We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to think ahead and problem-solve in real time. This is a temporary part-time position, with the potential to support coverage needs across various shifts, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities: • Direct daily live newscasts and recorded shows using both automation and manual switching. • Oversee the overall look of newscasts and on-air programming. • Identify and correct potential problems before they hit air. • Troubleshooting technical systems when required. • Use non-linear editing and content management systems for programming, commercial and digital content creation. • Other production department duties as assigned. Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or TV Production or related degree preferred; or equivalent experience may be substituted. • 3+ years’ experience with production automation, video switchers, newsroom computer systems, video servers, and graphics systems. • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively for breaking news and unexpected events. • Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on working as a te
