What You'll Do.
Perform diversified range of standard tasks related to the preparation of steel
Inspect test specimens for acceptable quality criteria
rejecting poor quality test specimens
and requesting replacement samples from internal customers as required
Prepare test specimens for analysis using various equipment
Perform prescribed routine preventative maintenance checks as scheduled and adjustments as required on various sample preparation machinery and auxiliary equipment
Register new test specimens into the electronic laboratory management system
Properly identify samples and retain or discard these samples according to standard operating procedure
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

This entry-level role focuses on the preparation, inspection, identification, and handling of steel, alloy, and slag specimens using standard laboratory equipment and procedures. The technician ensures samples meet quality standards, are accurately logged into the laboratory management system, and are retained or discarded in accordance with established operating procedures. The position also includes performing routine preventive maintenance on sample preparation equipment and supporting continuous laboratory operations in a production-oriented environment. **Primary Responsibilities:** * Perform diversified range of standard tasks related to the preparation of steel, alloy, and slag specimens * Inspect test specimens for acceptable quality criteria, rejecting poor quality test specimens, and requesting replacement samples from internal customers as required.
