What You'll Do.
Assist on Large-Scale Projects
Support planning and execution of renovation
and infrastructure projects
Maintain working knowledge of relevant building codes and safety practices
Assist in communicating technical requirements and monitoring contractor work
Working with the Program Manager and Director of Technical Operations on special projects
Integrates custom components for existing research experiments and laboratory equipment
Assists researchers and graduate students in designing and creating parts
Educates others on design tools and machining techniques
Coordinate the use of IREAP research space
Coordinate and follow up on all maintenance issues for labs
Manage processes common across research programs
Assist the safety compliance officer with quarterly departmental safety inspections
Compile data related to departmental safety compliance
Work with researchers to ensure that all departmental facilities comply with safety standards
Educate researchers and students in the areas of safety compliance
and maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies
Support inventory audits and recordkeeping to ensure accuracy and accountability
May serve as a primary point of contact for inventory coordination

# **_Job Description Summary_** The Technical Coordinator is an entry-level professional and a key member of the Technical Operations Team. This role supports the operation, maintenance, and coordination of shared research and instructional facilities. Working under the guidance of the Program Manager and Director of Technical Operations, the Technical Coordinator assists with laboratory projects, facility coordination, inventory management, and safety compliance efforts. This position is well-suited for a recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in a research and technical environment. The Technical Coordinator for the Institute for Research and Applied Physics is an integral member of the Technical Facilities Team reporting to the Program Manager. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Travel to other buildings on and off campus (attend meetings, pick up/drop off packages, which may be heavy and require the use of carts, etc.). The incumbent may assist in the setup for meetings and events that may require moving furniture. Licenses/Certifications: N/A # ** _Minimum Qualifications_** Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: One (1) year of experience in lab operations or lab safety management. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
