Must Have
Advanced university degree in biology or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience in in vivo research, laboratory animal science, or a related discipline., Laboratory Animal Science education through NCLASET or another relevant Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) course covering rodents and lagomorphs., At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with rodents in a laboratory or research setting, Experience in supervising and managing staff., Experience in experimental design and scientific publication., Knowledge of the 3Rs and a proven track record of implementing them in the in vivo space., communication skills, with fluency in English.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of animal welfare regulations and best practices., Experience in GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and toxicology studies., Experience in designing and running investigative safety studies., Experience with inhalation studies and/or respiratory measurements, Doctoral degree.

The principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement) are applied across all aspects of animal care and study conduct. **The role** As Team Leader, you will oversee a dynamic group working closely with colleagues across AstraZeneca’s safety science organisation, including senior leaders and specialists in safety and inhalation sciences. Key responsibility for the team is to provide high standards of animal care, welfare, and husbandry, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with internal standards, external regulations, and the principles of the 3Rs. Your team will be responsible for designing, conducting, and reporting investigative safety studies, including high-dose pharmacokinetic (PK) and tolerability investigations. The team will also support inhalation studies and respiratory measurements, and experience in these areas would be an advantage.
