Business Administration or Accounting diploma, Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation, 3-5 years payroll experience, 1-2 years supervisory/mentoring experience, Working knowledge of Meditech Payroll/Personnel, Advanced proficiency in MS Office

Working knowledge of UKG Workforce Dimensions, Experience with HOOPP

What You'll Do.

Oversee payroll preparation and processing

Ensure accuracy in wage calculations

Ensure accuracy in tax withholdings

Ensure accuracy in deductions

Prepare year end reporting

Reconcile EHT annually

Reconcile WSIB annually

Prepare HOOPP MDC reporting

Assist implementing payroll legislative updates

Assist implementing payroll collective agreement changes

Prepare monthly payroll balance sheet reconciliations

Complete annual register reconciliations

Prepare bi weekly reports

Prepare quarterly reports

Prepare ad hoc reports

Coordinate calculations of retroactive payments

Coordinate disbursements of retroactive payments

Coordinate calculations of special payments

Coordinate disbursements of special payments

Serve as point of contact for escalated payroll

Assist team members in resolving errors

Assist team members in resolving questions

Deliver customer-focused service

Participate in special projects

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the Team Lead is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day payroll operations and providing supervision to the payroll team. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, adherence to legislative and collective agreement requirements, and the delivery of high‑quality, customer‑focused service to both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate should have experience working with unionized payroll, demonstrate strong strategic thinking with the ability to see beyond day‑to‑day tasks, and possess an in‑depth understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
