What They're Looking For.
Must Have
5+ years in data engineering or data platform roles, 2+ years leading projects or people, Deep SQL, Deep Python, Production experience with Airflow, dbt or comparable frameworks, Hands-on expertise with cloud warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake), Hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS or GCP), Proven CI/CD and IaC chops (GitHub Actions, Terraform or similar), Solid grasp of data modelling, governance and observability patterns, Experience integrating with or building against business systems such as ERP, Shop or even Bank integrations, Excellent English communication
Nice to Have
German is a plus, exposure to AI/LLM workloads or vector databases on the production side
What You'll Do.
Own and sequence the roadmap across the data platform
ERP and business systems integrations

Own the Single Source of Truth for the entire company
mentor and grow 3 to 5 Data Engineers
Run clear goal-setting and feedback cycles
Design and review core components: batch and real-time pipelines
observability and CI/CD
Build internal services and tools to unblock the business
Translate ambiguous business needs into systems and data products

Sequence the work pragmatically
Make the call when there is no obvious right answer
Codify engineering standards for code quality

How You'll Work.

Work side-by-side with our Analytics team, Product, Engineering, Commercial, Medical and Operations colleagues; Partner with Commercial, Finance, Product, Operations and Medical; Coordinate across many stakeholders; Move between an engineering deep-dive and a Commercial leadership conversation; Coach and unblock engineers and analysts

ROLE OVERVIEW As Data Platform Lead you will be the people manager of a small, senior team and the domain expert steering AMBOSS's end-to-end data platform strategy.
