Job Overview The Teacher AVID will plan and implement an instructional, AVID College Readiness System and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels. Manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as required; carry out a variety of student monitoring and controls activities. Any teacher who will coach a UIL sport will also provide athletic services related to that athletic sport and the athletic program. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Commitment to, demonstrate support and advocate for the goals and mission of the AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes. Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes Ensure that the WICOR strategies are fully implemented during the AVID class, and assist other content teachers to implement WICOR strategies in their classes. Work with the AVID counselor to ensure that the AVID students are placed in rigorous courses appropriate to their interests, desire, and determination. Advocate for the AVID students with other teachers and the counselors as they seek access to rigorous courses Manage the behavior of learners in instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process, and assists and participates in management of student behavior in other parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site Coordinate instructional related and testing activities with other professional staff, both school and non-school-based, as required, to maximize learning opportunities Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning Ensure that Site Team meetings are held and that a written agenda is provided- Sites should hold monthly meetings Participate
