Middle school scholars who have already played instruments for 2 years

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Proficient playing up to and through Suzuki Book 3 on Violin, Viola and Cello, Proficient playing up to and through Suzuki Book 1 on Double Bass, Needs to be able to read in Treble, Alto and Bass Clefs, Implement Suzuki method instruction and activities to meet music-specific academic standards, Develop music literacy lesson components related to teaching rhythm and pitch notation, solfege reading and singing, improvisation and composition, High-level collaboration with Enrichment teachers and Director of Operations to create and plan for multiple performances throughout the school year, Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards, Support school instructional and cultural needs including but not limited to academic teaching coverage, test proctoring, daily systems duties, additional supportive duties, Participate in collaborative curriculum development, department activities, and school-wide, Develops classroom management skills congruent with Uncommon Schools system of management, Be accountable for students’ mastery of musical standards, Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues, Participate in an annual three-week staff orientation and training, Direct large group instruction, Knowledge and experience with the Suzuki Method, Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Teach small group lessons

Teach ensemble classes

Prepare scholars for school performances

Prepare scholars for NYSSMA Solo Festivals

Prepare scholars for various auditions

Implement Suzuki method instruction and activities

Develop music literacy lesson components

Design and implement assessments

Support school instructional and cultural needs

Participate in collaborative curriculum development

Participate in department activities

Participate in school-wide activities

Develop classroom management skills

Direct large group instruction

How You'll Work.
