Demonstrable experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript, Demonstrable skills in any programming language, preferably >2 years of experience picked up through education, work, hobbies and/or personal projects, Enrollment in a university or other educational institution related to STEM or programming, preferably with 2 or more years left of study, Fluency in English
Nice to Have
exposure to Node. js, exposure to Python, exposure to SQL, having worked with REST APIs
What You'll Do.
Develop and maintain frontend functionality across both platforms
Develop and maintain frontend functionality for the E&I dataplatform
Draft up design ideas for the platform
Translate design and product requirements into clean and responsive interfaces
Connect frontend components to backend APIs
Contribute to image annotation work support our ML models
Support backend development for our Node based web applications
Develop and connect web based APIs serving internal and external users
Take ownership of data and digital tooling projects supporting the new E&I data platform
Contribute to image annotation work supporting our ML models

**Are you our next Backend or Frontend Developer Student Assistant?** **Will you join the Commercial Data & Software Engineering team?** As one of the premier coating companies in the world, Hempel contributes to the decarbonization of the shipping industry and, increasingly, to the sustainable transformation of the energy and infrastructure sectors through a combination of premium products and innovative digital solutions. Hempel’s Commercial Data & Software Engineering team utilizes data gathered from the entire world fleet alongside inhouse models, to help shipowners make more economically sound and environmentally friendly decisions when managing their fleet. We are now extending the same data driven approach into the energy & infrastructure sector through a new platform currently in development. With an ever-increasing demand for easily accessible insights, we are looking to expand our team with two talented student assistants - one with a primary focus on frontend development, and one with a primary focus on backend development. **Want to help decarbonize shipping and strengthen critical energy and infrastructure assets through data and digitalization?** As part of the Commercial Data & Software Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to be part of the modernization of the Energy and Infrastructure (E&I) industry by contributing to the development of a new data platform over a 1½-year period. You will work with cutting edge digital tools to optimize and mature our data handling and loading processes, build user-facing functionalities for both platforms, and help shape how data is delivered to internal and external users. The two roles are distinct, but will work closely together.
