What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or an accredited Surgical Technician program, 1 year Sterile Processing, Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operation, Ability to operate complex machinery including washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers, Demonstrated ability to competently perform multiple, complex tasks, Knowledge of medical terminology, Current Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician through an accredited organization (HSPA, CBSPD) or Valid Certified Surgical Tech (CST) or Surgery-Certified Credential (TS-C) from CAAHEP or ABHES certification, Fire Life Safety Training (LA City)
Nice to Have
If no completion of program, must have an additional three years of experience as a Sterile Processing Tech
What You'll Do.
Decontaminating reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation
Operationally checking reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation
Assembling reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation
Sterilizing reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation
Distributing reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation
Operate Steam (autoclave) and H2O2 sterilizers
Operate sonic equipment
Operate automated washers
rotate and distribute reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation
Assemble and package surgical/clinic procedure instrument sets
Disassemble instruments/equipment
Remove gross contamination
Manually wash instruments
Decontaminate instruments
Load automated washers
Operate and maintain sterilization and disinfection equipment
Maintain sterilization documentation
Dispense sterile instrumentation to appropriate locations
Maintain sterile inventory
Proper distribution of sterile clinic instrumentation
Train and assist other Sterile Processing Technicians
Troubleshoot and address routine equipment issues
Troubleshoot and address routine instrument issues
Troubleshoot and address routine customer issues
ancillary departments
Receive loaner trays via Casechek
Communicate with outside companies to help resolve instrument issues
Operates equipment involved in sterilization processes
Adhere to all SPD policies/procedures/SOPs
Prepares OR case carts
Places any missing items on the OR shortage list
Inspects packages for indications of proper sterilization
Obtain knowledge of documentation and logging of information
Use of the Censitrac tracking system
Train or provide guidance or work direction to the Sterile Processing Technician
Decontaminating all Endoscopes & Probes
Reprocesses Endoscopes utilizing Automated Endoscopic Reprocessor (AER) Units
Perform Chemical Monitoring of the GUS System
Ensures all HLD equipment are staged to transfer
Performs all other duties as assigned
