*This role is open to remote or hybrid candidates (East Coast preference), with hybrid being central to our New York, NY or Charlotte area offices. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours. As a Staff Engineer at Bankrate, you sit at the intersection of deep technical expertise and strategic business thinking — the rare engineer who can see both the forest and the trees. You'll architect solutions to complex, cross-team challenges, ensuring every technology decision directly advances Bankrate's goals. That means influencing architectural direction, mentoring engineers, and spotting where emerging technology can unlock growth, efficiency, or a better customer experience — all while keeping systems scalable, secure, and cost-effective. What You’ll Do: Solve complex, mission-critical problems that require cross-team collaboration and deep technical evaluation. Act as a trusted technical consultant and architect for multiple teams within an industry group. Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technical direction with measurable outcomes and company goals. Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage new tools, frameworks, or paradigms that create business value. Lead technical design, planning, and execution for large-scale initiatives that span multiple systems in their product domains. Assess and execute trade-off decisions between performance, scalability, maintainability, and cost. Define and deliver technical stories that improve the integrity, performance, and long-term sustainability of shared systems. Conduct architectural reviews with the broader Staff group and proactively identify areas for simplification, modernization, and risk reduction.
