**Department** Institute of Utility Security and Resilience (IUSR) **Compensation** $90,000.00 to $100,000 Annual **** **General Description/Primary Purpose:** This position supports pavement performance research activities by contributing to the collection, analysis, and reporting of pavement materials and performance data. The role applies established analytical methods and research protocols to assist in experimental design, data management, and evaluation efforts that support the quality and reliability of pavement research outcomes. The Staff Asphalt Research Engineer works collaboratively with research colleagues and senior technical staff to implement research initiatives and emerging tools that enhance the value and usability of pavement data.**** This position is located on-site in the Pavement Research Unit of the FDOT State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL. **Job Functions:** The position requires a highly motivated and organized employee who is responsible for the following tasks: * Data analysis of all asphalt-related full-scale pavement testing and supplementary laboratory testing. * Continuous review of asphalt-related data to ensure accuracy. * Coordination with UNF Operations Team to support sensor condition, calibration needs, and any procedures or needs to ensure reliable data quality. * Conducting advanced analytical techniques (or AI-based techniques) on asphalt materials and pavement performance data. * Contributing to database development, data reporting, data visualization, and data accessibility. * Focus on data Quality Control (QC) and verification of reported data. * Contributing to the efforts pertaining to asphalt in designing the experiments, development of test plans, identifying proper sensor types, modifying test tools, analyzing the data, and reporting research findings. * Identification of research needs related to asphalt. * Reporting on analytical findings and final deliverables. * Implementation and ongoing development of new
