“Sr Responsible Engineer - Lunar Valves at Blue Origin. Skills: Valve design, Mechanical+fluids component design, Propulsion and fluid system components, CREO, ANSYS, Thermal Desktop, GD&T. Specify valve types and applications, materials usage, and design for manufacturing (DFM). Perform mechanical, fluid, and/or electrical analysis of components and subsystems focused on fluid flow systems and chemical processes as related to valves”

Eligibility Requirements

U. S. citizen or national, U. S. permanent resident (i. e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U. S. as a refugee or granted asylum, Blue’s Standard Background Check, Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation, Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10, 001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training., Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

B. S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field, 7+ years of experience in valve and or mechanical+fluids component design, Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (i. e. valves, regulators and pumps for space systems, propellants, and other fluids), Experience designing parts in CREO, Ability to apply GD&T to create manufacturable, high performing component drawings, Experience using design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop to evaluate the performance of your designs, Ability to define and support testing of your design, conduct data analysis and iterate your design

Nice to Have

10+ years experience in designing and specifying valves, Advanced Engineering degree, Experience with static and non-linear FEA analysis (ANSYS), Exposure to development of high-reliability, radiation-tolerant, radiation-hardened flight hardware intended for prolonged exposure to extreme space environments, Experience with component design such as valves, actuators, mechanisms, Working knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relative to tubes, machined components, and welded hardware., Working knowledge of aerospace materials and treatments, Experience with preparing and executing test planning, test readiness reviews, and test conducting, Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, Ability to transition between analysis and design to build and test activities, Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills, Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment, project management and team leadership skills, Knowledge of ASME Y14. 5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance

What You'll Do.

Specify valve types and applications

and design for manufacturing (DFM)

Fabricate and test prototypes

Produce results within defined schedule and budget constraints

Conduct multiple analysis

and test activities simultaneously

Specify components as needed

Engage in both early-stage

long-term development and near-term

flight program hardware design

Evolve prototypes into flight-qualifiable hardware

Transfer knowledge and expertise to the next generation of valve designers

Mentor entry level engineers

Perform technical peer reviews

Design the next generation of valves for use on our Lunar program

Encompass the complete life cycle of the system from definition

component development

Own components from initial design to analyzing data from their landing on the moon

Design and perform 1st order analyses to verify designs

Identify and procure components

Build Lunar vehicles in CAD by modeling valves

and other equipment in the flight vehicle

and analyze flow and structural integrity under pressure

temperature and mechanical loads

and install flight hardware
