What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline, 7+ years of experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development, 7+ years experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative and remedial activities, At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects, Experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with specific expertise in CWA 404 and NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural and cultural resource evaluations

Nice to Have

Experience in multiple states within the US (preferably in VA, MD, PA), Data center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, and/or or risk assessment experience strongly preferred, Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions, Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software, Up to 25% travel, Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects

Join a diverse, dynamic, and enthusiastic team of environmental professionals who play a leading role in environmental permitting and compliance at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where we have a history of leading the world in innovative technologies and services. The work of our Regional Environmental Engineers is critical to enabling AWS's growth in the US and around the world. The AWS Environmental team is an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS’s global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products. The team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs. This includes defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems and driving their continuous improvement; setting and refining global policies and procedures; overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training; ensuring effective engagement by environmental teams on global initiatives, including those that are part of Amazon’s ambitious sustainability goals; providing specialist expertise; and engaging with all AWS business units to provide scalable and effective compliance strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You will partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies enabling the construction and operation of AWS datacenters and infrastructure. You will lead environmental due diligence for site selection and acquisition, develop and execute regional and site-specific environmental permitting strategies, support environmental compliance during design and construction, and prepare for data center operations.
