We're seeking an inventive and entrepreneurial Sr Prototype Engineer to join Amazon Devices. You will own aspects of the design and development of products across the software and hardware experience. As a Sr Prototype Engineer, you will help answer hard problems through quick and efficient prototypes and experiments, resulting in user and technical requirements that will drive production design. You will collaborate closely with the HW, PD, EE, and ID teams translating technical requirements and synthesize restrictions from Hardware for product & design. Key job responsibilities - Participate in the full lifecycle of product development; including ideation, design, development, implementation and validation - Answer the team’s hard problems through quick prototypes and thorough documentation - Build high-quality, functional prototypes that convey, prove, and advance the vision of products and applications - Work side-by-side with Product, Hardware, UX, and ID teams to turn high level concepts into detailed product designs, mockups, and prototypes. - Build prototypes with ID-intent in mind, while following Hardware restrictions. - Become a domain expert through daily use of prototypes, competitive, and complementary products to develop a deep product intuition. - Collaborate on quantitative & qualitative user research programs to drive early product decisions. Work with Research teams to develop testing platforms to get user insight on physical prototypes. - Good understanding of various platforms, technologies, and manufacturing methods to create prototypes - Advance design thinking through your knowledge of platform capabilities and limitations as you support your design team and work
