MetroStar is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Part-Time Linux Systems Engineer I to serve as the primary technical owner for enterprise Linux and on-premises infrastructure environments supporting mission-critical federal operations. This position is fully onsite and requires an experienced engineer who can independently manage Linux systems, maintain operational stability, and drive infrastructure modernization while ensuring security, reliability, and performance. What you’ll do: Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux servers across production and non-production environments. Provision, configure, and decommission physical and virtual servers within enterprise data center environments. Monitor system health, performance, and capacity to ensure maximum uptime and operational reliability. Lead operating system patch management activities, including testing, scheduling, deployment, validation, and reporting of security and OS updates. Implement and maintain security hardening standards, vulnerability remediation efforts, and compliance requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving Linux operating systems, hardware, networking, storage, and virtualization technologies. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve system stability and prevent recurring issues.
