Full Job Description

As a Hardware Development Engineer within the (RDPI) team, you will design, develop, and deliver mechanical components and systems for Amazon's next generation of products. You will work with cross-functional teams to transform concepts into manufacturable designs that meet customer needs and business requirements. Key job responsibilities - Deliver mechanical design projects from concept through production, ensuring designs meet functional requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing constraints - Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for mechanical components and assemblies - Conduct engineering analyses including tolerance stack-ups, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) - Develop and execute test plans to validate mechanical designs against product requirements - Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing partners to integrate mechanical designs with other subsystems. - Identify and resolve technical issues during development and production phases - Document design decisions, test results, and engineering changes - Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent - 8+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience - Experience with prototyping, implementation and scaling Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent - Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume - Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
