What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Four plus (4+) years experience in web application design, development, and implementation, Four plus (4+) years experience with React JS, Four plus (4+) years experience with Node, Four plus (4+) years experience with Typescript/Python, Three plus (3+) years of experience working on cloud-based infrastructure (GCP or AWS), RESTful Web Service development and consumption, Must be able to travel 0-10% of time, Must be able to lift 25lbs, Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant, Access information using a computer, Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain, Effectively cope with stressful situations, mental acuity, Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
Nice to Have
Experience with Test Driven Development, Experience with AWS, Experience with Git, Experience with Jira, Experience working with SaaS based platforms and technologies, Generative AI experience is a plus
What You'll Do.
Adhere to and promote Agile development methods
Recommend technical approaches that will help to deliver reliable and efficient code
Work within a fast paced Agile development environment
Perform analysis assistance
and implementation of custom software to enhance value to the business per designed specifications
Participate in and develop new software releases
Work with QA in creating test plans
Assist in creating implementation plans
Troubleshoot and recommend solutions to existing production issues
Provide level 3 support of development after implementation of enterprise applications
Participates in the ongoing development of technical best practices
Architect and prototype the next generation of tools
Building mission-critical SaaS applications
Leading special R&D initiatives
Translating complex business needs for Sophia’s learners
Experimenting with agentic systems for Workforce Edge

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer within our Research & Development group at Strategic Education Inc. (SEI), you will sit at the center of a high-impact innovation hub. Unlike traditional academic engineering roles, our team acts as a strategic engine for the entire SEI ecosystem. You will work directly alongside Workforce Edge and Sophia Learning to architect and prototype the next generation of tools that bridge the gap between learning and earning. In this role, you aren't just maintaining platforms—you are exploring the "what’s next." You will divide your expertise between building mission-critical SaaS applications for our partners and leading special R&D initiatives that push the boundaries of EdTech. Whether you are translating complex business needs for Sophia’s learners or experimenting with agentic systems for Workforce Edge, your work will directly enable economic mobility for adult learners globally.
