What They're Looking For.
Must Have
5+ years of payroll experience, deep knowledge of processing, compliance, and tax, Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll, Demonstrated experience owning payroll tax compliance audits and vendor relationships, Familiarity with multi-state payroll tax laws, garnishments, and year-end reporting, analytical and problem-solving skills, Ability to manage large data sets accurately, Ability to operate independently, own complex workstreams, drive to resolution without close direction, Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, Advanced Excel proficiency, Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
Nice to Have
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification or active progress toward certification, Experience managing a payroll tax vendor relationship, Exposure to international payroll operations or expansion projects

Own preparation and processing of payroll
Ensure accuracy and timeliness
Review payroll data for completeness
Resolve discrepancies
Serve as lead resource for troubleshooting
Escalate issues as appropriate
Lead periodic compliance audits
Ensure ongoing compliance
Identify discrepancies
Drive resolution with internal stakeholders
Build and maintain audit documentation
Serve as internal subject matter expert
Own quarterly compliance tracking
Ensure timely implementation of regulatory updates
Support SOX compliance requirements
Serve as primary point of contact for payroll tax vendor
Ensure taxes assigned accurately
Process taxes on timely basis
Monitor vendor performance
Escalate issues to leadership
Coordinate between vendor and internal payroll
Resolve discrepancies
Manage vendor configuration updates
Own end-to-end payroll tax reconciliation
Ensure accuracy of all tax filings
Monitor tax configuration in Workday Payroll
Ensure proper withholding
Review and reconcile payroll tax adjustments
Lead year-end tax activities
Own configuration and maintenance of earnings
Partner with HR and Benefits
Ensure accurate deduction setup
Validate system configuration changes
Assess downstream payroll impact
