What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required
Nice to Have
Previous experience dealing with paediatric populations, Experience working with children with special needs, including children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Individual Authorizer (IA) qualification, Ability to offer services in more than one language
What You'll Do.
Conduct assessment and goal setting, along with the child’s team, that will meet the communication needs of the child or youth, As appropriate, prescribe eligible communication devices as part of CTN’s authorized Assistive Devices Program Clinic., Prepare assessment, consultation, and discharge reports as per CTN ACCS documentation guidelines, Provide coaching to parents and members of the child and family team in order to support the use of AAC tools and strategies within every day routines/environments, Provide consultation across environments (i.
, home, in-clinic, school, daycare, community, special programs such as ABA) based on client’s communication goals, Provide training opportunities for parents, professionals, community partners, etc.
to continue to build local AAC capacity, Participate in the supervision of ACCS Communicative Disorders Assistant(s), Liaise with external health agencies, school boards and children’s mental health agencies, Attend scheduled ACCS prescription reviews (twice monthly), CTN AAC professional development days (twice yearly), clinical team meetings, and provincial AAC rounds (twice yearly), Take an active role in performing and maintaining professional practice standards, guidelines and activities, Travel throughout York Region required.
