The Brief

“Speech Language Pathologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Skills: Speech and language evaluations, Therapy, Feeding and swallowing evaluations, Pediatric modified barium swallow studies, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES). Conduct comprehensive assessments of in and outpatients with disorders of swallowing, communication, voice and cognition. Plan and implement individual/group speech-language pathology treatments to achieve the highest possible level of independence”

Available to work weekends, Inpatient coverage and weekends may be required in a rotating fashion once training is provided

Must Have

Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution, Current license required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Current CPR certification

What You'll Do.

Conduct comprehensive assessments of in and outpatients with disorders of swallowing

Plan and implement individual/group speech-language pathology treatments to achieve the highest possible level of independence

Provide student training according to departmental guidelines

Conduct speech-language pathology evaluation procedures according to professional and departmental guidelines

Establish treatment goals and plans that reflect the needs of the patients while meeting departmental

and third party reimbursement requirements

Implement comprehensive individual and group treatment

Participate in the development and evaluation of speech-language pathology programs

Orient medical professional staff and the community to speech-language pathology and supervise speech-language pathology students

How You'll Work.

Team & Collaboration

Collaborates with other disciplines to arrange for appropriate follow-up care and facilitates a successful return to home and work environments; Collaborates with colleagues and other professionals to provide high quality patient care

Communication Scope

Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients, families and various members of the health care team
