What You'll Do.
Supports resident wellbeing by responding to student crisis situations and coordinating the appropriate interventions
Provides risk assessment

Serves in the Residential Life on-call rotation to respond to mental health crisis and other wellness concerns.
Implements departmental and university emergency and crisis response protocols.
Supports case management and return planning for residents following hospitalization
or other significant crisis incidents.
Provides follow-up with residents
campus services and other involved parties as needed.

Ensures community staff adherence to established guidelines and provides consultation
and feedback as needed.
Guides staff in the appropriate use of the student care database
including interpretation and application of program guidelines and student care protocols.

Maintains resident crisis records and develops additional resources as needed or assigned.
Assesses resident concerns and coordinates the appropriate interventions
and follow-up services in collaboration with campus partners.
Facilitates follow-up meetings with students of concern following medium to high-level incidents.
Recommends follow-up steps to Residential Life staff for lower-level students of concern situations.
Serves as the primary point of contact for hospital staff after students of concern have been voluntarily or involuntary transported due to the severity of their mental health concern.
Supports completion of follow up measures including assigned meetings
and other care recommendations
in coordination with campus partners.
Keeps supervisor informed of ongoing significant student concern situations and determines when a report should be referred for further review.
Facilitates resident meetings regarding risky behaviors.
Facilitates resident meetings regarding housing accommodations.
Coordinates programmatic efforts to implement in communities across campus designed to educate residents on mental health resources.
Coordinates with campus partners to provide support for residential students.
Administers the Suicide Intervention Program for high-risk residents.
Provides leadership to the Residential Life Student Care Committee.
Represents Residential Life at campus-wide Student Care Team.
Compiles data and submits quarterly and annual statistical reports regarding the student of concern process.
Analyzes Residential Life Student of Concern data to ascertain programmatic needs.
Maintains accurate electronic case management records in Advocate database.
Communicates database efficiency and critical issues to supervisor.
Prepares and distributes staff training materials related to CARE module in Advocate database.
Assists Residential Life leadership team with special projects as assigned.

**Job Description** Housing & Food Services (HFS) has an outstanding opportunity for a **Specialist for Student Care** to join the team. The Specialist for Student Care supports resident wellbeing by responding to student crisis situations and coordinating the appropriate interventions, resources, and follow up. This position provides risk assessment, crisis intervention, resource coordination, and support planning for residents experiencing mental health concerns and/or other significant wellness related issues. **RESPONSIBILITIES** **Crisis Response (35%)** * Serves in the Residential Life on-call rotation of 3 staff throughout the academic year, when classes are in session, to respond to mental health crisis and other wellness concerns as they occur for a residential population of over 9,500 residents * Implements departmental and university emergency and crisis response protocols * Collaborates and consults with other Student Life professionals regarding residents in need of additional support and resources * Supports case management and return planning for residents following hospitalization, transport, or other significant crisis incidents * Provides follow-up with residents, campus services and other involved parties as needed **Students of Concern Process Management (30%)** * Reviews, triages, and assigns student of concern reports among Residential Life Care Team staff * Ensures community staff adherence to established guidelines and provides consultation, direction, and feedback as needed * Guides staff in the appropriate use of the student care database, including interpretation and application of program guidelines and student care protocols * Reviews documentation related to care and crisis response to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with departmental standards * Maintains resident crisis records and develops additional resources as needed or assigned * Assesses resident concerns and coordinates the appropriate interventions, referrals, and
