What They're Looking For.
Must Have
High School Diploma/GED, Two years of related experience in an area that provides broad knowledge of medical terminology, including patient registration, patient billing, insurance processing or appointment/operating room scheduling OR three years of customer service concierge experience, Working knowledge of computerized appointment/OR scheduling systems, patient billing, insurance processing or other related office functions to coordinate patient access, Proficiency in Personal Computers (PC) and general knowledge of PC-based systems and software, Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
Nice to Have
In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and/or CPT/ICD coding, EPIC experience, Six months of medical scheduling experience
What You'll Do.
Ensure accuracy of system-wide master patient index
Validate and capture patient demographic data
Validate patient physician information
Ensure accurate collection of physician information
Validate and capture insurance coverage
Ensure accurate billing
Identify patients in need of financial counseling
Ensure appropriate payment of services
Triage appointments based on diagnosis
patient preferences and
Coordinate services as requested by patients
Provide special instructions as requested by patients
Perform scheduling both intra- and inter-departmentally
Receive orders and process as indicated by provider
Schedule according to protocol
Ensure accuracy of all data
corrections and changes to scheduled procedures/surgeries
Maintain provider schedules for designated units
Coordinate multiple physician schedules
Serve as liaison with admitting office
Update admission information
Cancel hospital reservations
Act as a resource to all department personnel
Communicate with patients and their families
Provide detailed instructions
