What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Master’s Degree, prior approval as a Teacher Consultant by the Michigan Department of Education, Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, knowledge of assessments and diagnosis and research related to learning, instructional strategies, and classroom management, Demonstrate an understanding of current rules and regulations regarding Child Study Teams and special education assessment and program requirements, Demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to relate with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community, Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications

What You'll Do.
Student Support and Intervention
Evaluation and Consultation
meeting timelines and monthly deadlines
assisting families with finding necessary resources
monitoring students’ data to demonstrate academic and behavioral growth
developing and monitoring goals for students and the criteria for success
communicating individual plans for students to staff to facilitate a whole school approach to student improvement
working in collaboration with school administration to address the needs of our most at-risk learners
with the focus on improving academics
providing staff with essential information to develop interventions for academic and behavioral success
supporting problem-solving teams and Child Study Teams through consultation
and intervention planning
identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect
supporting the special education referral
and reevaluation process in compliance with IDEA
and required timelines
coordinating and participating in multidisciplinary evaluation team (MET) processes
including the review of existing evaluation data and assessment planning
conducting educational evaluations and assisting in gathering
and communicating assessment data to determine student eligibility and educational needs
collaborating with general education staff
special education staff
related service providers
and families regarding evaluation procedures
and eligibility recommendations
and maintaining evaluation documentation and reports in accordance with district
and federal requirements
participating in MET and IEP meetings and providing input regarding student performance
and programming recommendations
providing consultation to instructional staff regarding accommodations
and instructional strategies for students with disabilities and at-risk learners
assisting staff in understanding and implementing special education evaluation procedures
compliance expectations
intervention documentation requirements
and eligibility criteria
providing consultation and recommendations to support student placement
programming decisions
and access to the least restrictive environment
utilizing student data
