Job Title: Solid Waste Maintenance Technician Department: Landfill External Hiring Range: $21.04 - $24.94 Compensation Grade: 2004 Posted Internally and Externally **Our Solid Waste Department in Alexander known as the Landfill is currently seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician I to join our team. This role involves a variety of hands-on responsibilities, including mowing, weed-eating, litter pickup, and emptying dumpsters at the convenience center. The position requires daily application of Posi-Shell, as mandated by state regulations, to help control wind-blown litter. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotating weekend shifts—typically working one weekend followed by two weekends off, depending on staffing needs. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather and capable of performing physical tasks while on their feet for extended periods. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require filling in for other staff when needed. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment for the community.** **Purpose of the position:** The purpose of this position is to be responsible for performing limited semi- skilled manual work in the maintenance, operation, and repair of County buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities. **Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire):** High school diploma or GED, and one (1) year of experience in the maintenance trades, such as HVAC, electric, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, or painting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
