Must Have
3+ years engineering team management, 7+ years engineering experience, 8+ years leading definition and development of multi tier web services, 3+ years Software Engineer or related experience, 1+ years technical leadership and project management, 1+ years developing large-scale distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++, 1+ years developing large-scale distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture, 1+ years developing large-scale distributed software systems using distributed programming, Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for full software/hardware/networks development lifecycle, Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership, Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing Software Engineers

If the answer is yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you to lead a team on the Amazon Elastic VMware Service. A wave of innovation is bringing sweeping changes to EC2 services with new virtualization capabilities, deep platform integrations, and unimaginable scale—revolutionizing traditional thinking around how we run enterprise workloads in the cloud. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team building new capabilities to help customers run VMware-based workloads on AWS. The AWS Commercial Applications team within Amazon EC2 defines and builds integrations with external software applications running in cloud environments and helps modernize enterprise customer workloads. Our team launched Amazon EVS in August 2025, and is rapidly expanding to continue building new capabilities for our customers migrating and running VMware-based workloads on AWS. As an SDM, you will lead a team of engineers, drive technical strategy, mentor talent, and deliver customer-focused solutions at scale.
