Must Have
1 year - Experience with information technology concepts, application development methodology, terminology, and standards required, 3 years - Systems and programming experience required, 1 year - Expert working knowledge of at least one programming language in use at BCBST, Proven skill with information technology in use at BCBST is required, Proven analysis, design, and coding skills, and demonstrated success in leading large and complex projects, Demonstrated ability to interpret and translate technical and/or or complex concepts into information meaningful to project team members and/or business personnel, Be organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks with exceptional work ethic, Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is hiring a Software Engineer that will play a hands‑on role in**implementing and supporting AI development lifecycle tools** that enable teams to build, test, deploy, and operate **AI solutions** in a cloud‑based environment. Rather than focusing on feature development in a single programming language, this role centers on **integrating and operationalizing standardized AI SDLC tooling and patterns** that support both large‑language‑model (LLM) use cases, such as prompting and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), as well as more classical machine‑learning workflows. Working closely with senior engineers, product teams, architects, and platform partners, this Software Engineer will help **embed AI capabilities into existing SDLC processes** , including model development, testing, deployment, and early lifecycle monitoring. Early expectations for the role include delivering **practical automation patterns** such as AI‑assisted test generation and execution, along with approaches to **scanning and validating AI‑generated code for potential vulnerabilities**. Through this work, the Software Engineer will contribute to more consistent, production‑ready, and governed AI solutions across the organization, even as tooling and ownership models continue to mature.
