About the Role Abnormal AI is looking for a backend software engineer to work on customer-facing products that enable SOC teams to search across cloud email tenants, investigate threats, and perform remediation at scale. You'll work on systems that directly power how security teams find and act on malicious messages inside the Abnormal platform. We use AI-augmented development practices across our engineering org, and expect engineers to leverage modern AI tools to build faster and ship high-quality software with more leverage. The ideal candidate has backend and distributed systems experience, takes ownership of what they ship, and wants to work on products where reliability and speed directly affect customer security outcomes. What You Will Do Design and build backend services that power search, remediation, and quarantine workflows across multi-tenant enterprise email environments Work with the Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, and Product Manager to scope, develop, and deliver features end-to-end Own the reliability of the systems you build, including unit tests, integration testing, and production observability Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues Contribute to API design for customer-facing REST endpoints used by security operations teams Communicate effectively in an async-first environment, provide updates, surface blockers, and propose solutions without prompting Leverage AI development tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows, and deliver reliable production outcomes Mentor junior engineers and raise the engineering bar through code reviews and knowledge sharing Must Haves BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related engineering field 3+ years of industry experience in backend development and distributed systems Experience building features and components from scratch and operating them in production, balancing feature work with operational re
