Lead the technical vision and strategy for systems that process tens of millions of customer transactions weekly, shaping the checkout experience for shoppers across the globe. In this role, you'll guide a team of engineers in building scalable, low-latency distributed systems while driving innovation that removes friction from the purchase journey and strengthens Amazon's retail foundation. Key job responsibilities - Guide technical strategy and architecture decisions for distributed systems that serve tens of millions of transactions weekly, ensuring scalability, resilience, and low-latency performance - Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and psychological safety where team members can contribute their best work - Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product, operations, and business teams to align on priorities, communicate technical trade-offs, and drive solutions that enhance the customer experience - Own operational excellence and reliability, including on-call support, incident response, and the implementation of systems and processes that maintain service quality - Drive innovation initiatives that simplify the checkout process, reduce operational costs, and remove barriers to purchase completion for customers A day in the life As a Software Development Manager, you'll spend your time balancing strategic leadership with hands-on technical collaboration.
