Full Job Description
Description We're building the next generation of intelligent experiences for Alexa — systems that understand context, anticipate needs, and act proactively. This is a greenfield initiative at the intersection of large language models, real-time stream processing, and edge computing. As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team of talented engineers building distributed systems that span edge devices and cloud services. You will own the technical vision, people development, and delivery for a high-visibility initiative that is making Alexa smarter, more proactive, and indispensable. What You'll Own * Own the system that turns context into action — making Alexa anticipate what customers need, powered by large language models at scale * Lead the design and operation of edge-to-cloud data pipelines handling high-throughput, low-latency stream processing from millions of devices through cloud inference and back to customer experiences * Drive the architecture for LLM orchestration systems that coordinate large language model calls with tight latency budgets and high reliability requirements * Define integration strategy across five or more partner teams, aligning your team's output with downstream Alexa experiences and driving cross-org execution * Establish operational excellence for your team's infrastructure — event-driven architectures, monitoring, alarming, and on-call processes Why this role? This is a greenfield initiative where the architecture is being defined now — you will shape it. The team iterates working software with senior leadership on tight cycles, and your work is directly visible to VP and SVP stakeholders. You will work alongside multiple Principal Engineers and Senior PEs who are deeply invested in this initiative — direct access to the strongest technical minds in the org, and the opportunity to define patterns for real-time LLM orchestration, streaming inference, and intelligent context management that will scale across Alexa.
