Full Job Description

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Hex team within AWS Insights and Optimizations. This team owns the execution plane and data plane for AWS Billing and cost management — the services that power Budgets, Cost Anomaly Detection, Pricing Calculator, Alerts, Forecasting, and Heimdall across all AWS partitions globally. You will work on high-scale, high-availability distributed systems that process cost data for millions of AWS accounts. The services you own directly impact how customers monitor, control, and optimize their AWS spending. You will also have the opportunity to apply GenAI tooling to reduce operational toil, improve pipeline health, and build automation that scales the team's impact Key job responsibilities What you'll do * Design, build, and operate distributed services that power AWS cost management across all 8 AWS partitions * Own and improve the operational health of high-volume services — pipeline deployments, ticket resolution, on-call response, and automated testing * Drive engineering efficiency through automation — automated ticket triage, pipeline remediation, test generation, and deployment validation * Contribute to our S-Team commitments for Cost Monitoring and Estimation Products * Collaborate with science teams on ML-powered cost forecasting and anomaly detection models * Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable systems. * Collaborate with Applied Scientists to productionize research innovations while ensuring system reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. * Demonstrate strong ownership of complex technical problems spanning multiple services and teams. * Continuously learn new Gen AI/ML technologies and engineering best practices while demonstrating Amazon's Leadership Principles, particularly Ownership and Deliver Results, in daily work.
