Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of education., Meets the Maryland State Department of Education licensure requirements for Secondary Social Studies Licensure.
Nice to Have
Three previous years of teaching experience., Holds a current Maryland State Department of Education license in Secondary Social Studies.
What You'll Do.
Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for all students.
and differentiate instructional plans and materials based on the HCPSS curriculum.
Create an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual
social and emotional development of individuals.
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
Establish learning objectives consistent with student needs and the HCPSS curriculum framework.
Create a classroom environment that supports student engagement.
Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities.
Refer students for appropriate specialized support as needed.
Plan and utilize instructional methods
resources and evaluation techniques.
Provide input to student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Take necessary safety precautions.
Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
Develop classroom behavior rules and maintain order.
Communicate standards
and areas for improvement to students and families.
Provide timely and meaningful feedback to families and students.
Be available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Plan and oversee assignments for paraeducators
and/or classroom volunteers.
Provide non-evaluative input on paraeducator and/or student assistants’ job performance.
Establish relationships with administrators
and the school community.
Appraise own effectiveness and apply acquired skills to increase effectiveness.
Participate in and share responsibility for the safe and orderly operation of schools.
Attend staff meetings
district professional learning events
and serve on staff committees.
