What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Virginia State License for Polysomnographic Technologist, RPSGT by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists, RT certification by the Virginia Board of Medicine, Enrolled in accredited Sleep Technology educational program, AHA BLS-HCP certification, Computer skills, Effective written and verbal communication skills, Appropriate social and customer service skills, Critical thinking, Ability follow directions, Work with minimal supervision, Teamwork skills, Follow HIPPA policies
Nice to Have
Work in AASM accredited sleep center for one year, Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) credential, Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential
What You'll Do.
analyzes and integrates patient information
Reviews patients' history
Verify the medical order
Follow sleep facility protocols
Verify identification
Obtain consent for the study
Explains the procedure
Selects appropriate equipment
Applies electrodes and sensors
Performs routine positive airway pressure interface fitting
Performs appropriate physiological calibrations
Prepares and instructs patient
Follows procedural protocols
Establishes and documents baseline values
Performs data acquisition
Monitors study-tracing quality
Documents routine observations
Implements appropriate interventions
Verifies integrity of collected data
Completes the data collection process
Scores sleep/wake stages
Scores clinical events
Generates accurate reports
Demonstrates knowledge and skills for portable monitoring
Performs patient education
Demonstrates adherence to cleaning procedures
Complies with applicable laws
Performs routine equipment care
Responds to participant inquiries
Adheres to sleep center policies
Reviews and evaluate sleep studies
Provides feedback to staff
Demonstrates ability to analyze complex situations
Complies with professional standards
Assists facility director and/or manager
Evaluates sleep study related equipment
Demonstrates knowledge and skills for age specific care
Responsible for supervision of unlicensed personnel
Delegation to unlicensed personnel

How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Work with a registered board certified polysomnographic technologist; Offer some guidance/supervision of sleep technicians; Provide oversight of other sleep center staff; Communication is generally limited to persons within the immediate work unit or department; Includes physicians, patients and patients’ family
