Full Job Description
**Overview & Responsibilities** **PURPOSE OF THE JOB:** Lead, supervise, and manage the shop's daily operations and hourly personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable performance under the direction of the area manager. Drive continuous improvement in shop activities, technical execution, and quality control. **SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:** * **Production and Quality Management:** Execute the scheduled workload according to customer contracts and Elliott's Quality Manual. Assign and monitor daily work, ensuring personnel are qualified and provided with complete instructions, necessary resources, and tooling (including calibration). Review and approve completed assignments. * **Technical and Cost Control:** Provide technical expertise to resolve unforeseen manufacturing problems. Advise Engineering of customer product non-conformances. Develop and initiate monitoring procedures to control costs related to scrap and rework, focusing on root cause elimination. Control efficiency levels to ensure high quality, shortest lead-time, and lowest product cost. * **Safety and Compliance:** Enforce compliance with plant rules and the labor contract. Implement and supervise effective and efficient operation through established policies, safe work practices, and good housekeeping (including leading 5S and Continuous Improvement initiatives). Participate in formal and informal audits (Quality, Statutory, HSE, etc.) and take corrective actions. * **Personnel Leadership:** Administer all personnel functions, including hiring, training, development, discipline, discharge, and performance appraisals. Establish high standards of conduct and productive work habits. Maintain high visibility on the shop floor, promptly addressing employee technical issues and fostering motivation and morale.
