Must Have
portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work for complex software applications, Advanced proficiency with Figma, including components, variants, prototyping, design systems, and developer handoff, UI design fundamentals, including layout, typography, hierarchy, interaction design, accessibility, and visual consistency, UX research skills, including user interviews, usability testing, workflow mapping, heuristic evaluation, and research synthesis, Experience designing scalable, consistent, and user-friendly interfaces for complex workflows, understanding of design systems and how to apply them across multiple applications or product surfaces, information architecture and systems thinking skills, Ability to operate in ambiguous, technical, or highly specialized domains, Experience collaborating closely with frontend engineers and product stakeholders, Ability to clearly communicate design rationale, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, Experience taking products or major features from discovery through implementation and iteration

Experience designing for aerospace, defense, mission operations, industrial software, data-heavy tools, command-and-control systems, or other complex technical domains, Experience with responsive design across desktop, tablet, and varied operational environments, Experience growing or formalizing design systems within an engineering-led organization, Experience mentoring designers or helping raise design maturity across a team, Experience incorporating AI tools into research, design exploration, prototyping, or design operations workflows, Familiarity with component-based frontend development concepts, such as reusable UI components, responsive behavior, and engineering handoff constraints

Full Job Description
We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to help shape the user experience and visual direction of our Mission Control software suite. This role will be embedded with the Mission Control Software team and will be responsible for designing intuitive, scalable, and operationally effective interfaces for complex aerospace workflows. In this role, you will work closely with mission operators, customers, product stakeholders, and frontend engineers to deeply understand user needs, translate operational workflows into clear product experiences, and ensure our applications are designed with usability, consistency, and long-term scalability in mind. This is a senior design role that goes beyond visual execution. You will be expected to lead discovery efforts, gather and synthesize user feedback, define design priorities, contribute to product planning, establish strong UX practices, and mentor teammates through thoughtful design critique and collaboration. You should be comfortable operating in ambiguous problem spaces, asking the right questions, and turning complex technical systems into approachable, high-confidence user experiences. You will own the design process from research and concept development through high-fidelity Figma designs, engineering handoff, and post-release feedback loops.
