This work will take place within the National Ignition Facility & Photon Science (NIF&PS) Directorate, home to the world’s most energetic laser. It is an exciting time to join the team that achieved fusion ignition in December 2022, a historic moment in science, opening up new physics regimes and setting the stage for new fusion energy possibilities. You will apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials to work with NIF engineers and suppliers to purchase materials, mechanical and/or electrical parts (including PCBAs and cable harnesses), and electro- optical/mechanical assemblies varying in size and complexity. NIF is a 24/7 operational facility and may occasionally require travel, and/or working overtime to accomplish goals; some work will occur in radiological environments.
