Full Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to drive critical investments that raise the security bar across IAM's core infrastructure. You will own the design and delivery of systems that protect some of the most sensitive surfaces in AWS. This is a high-impact role where your work directly shapes how AWS earns and maintains customer trust. You will work across organizational boundaries to identify gaps, define solutions, and deliver results in ambiguous problem spaces. The right candidate is comfortable operating without a detailed playbook — you define the path forward, build consensus, and execute. Key job responsibilities - Lead the design and implementation of foundational security improvements across IAM services - Identify and drive investments that proactively reduce risk across authentication and authorization surfaces - Partner with security, applied science, and service teams to define and prioritize high-judgment technical initiatives - Deliver production systems that operate at AWS scale with the highest availability and correctness requirements - Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and operational excellence About the team AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) is at the foundation of every AWS service and every customer interaction with the cloud. Our team builds the systems that customers and services rely on to authenticate and authorize access across the world's most widely adopted cloud platform. We operate at massive scale, processing billions of requests per day with extremely high availability requirements. Basic Qualifications: - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Prefer
