What They're Looking For.
Must Have
MS/PhD Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Coatings, 10 years of practical R&D experience, 5 years’ experience in Coatings formulation
Nice to Have
degreed candidates in other science related fields with applicable formulation experience, understanding of chemical manufacturing as it relates to coatings, resins or polymers, Knowledge of color/dispersion chemistry, resin chemistry, pre-treatments and corrosion protection, fundamental understanding of coatings technology and be capable of formulation optimization, Ability to develop and/or implement coating characterization testing methods, calibrate & run instrumentation and interpret results, Knowledge of design of experiment (DOE) techniques

## _**Sr. Scientist – Liquid Industrial Huntsville, Al**_ ## **** ## Axalta Coating Systems is seeking an experienced Scientist to join our General Industrial Coatings Technology Group in Huntsville, Al. The Senior Scientist will advance our fundamental understanding of coatings technology in support of Axalta’s growth initiatives. This includes product design, development, enhancements & modifications to improve coating performance and reduce cost, while also improving efficiency during manufacturing and application. The role of Sr. Scientist will report into the Team Manager – Liquid Industrial. ## **Primary Responsibilities** · Lead technical programs related to product development and customer support within a team environment · Responsible for development and implementation of new product formulations across a range of coating technologies and General Industrial Metal markets, including initial definition with the customer, scale-up with Manufacturing and optimization of performance at the customer site · Work as an active member of cross functional project teams with Manufacturing, Product Management, IT and Sales · Interact with others in R&D, Sales and Marketing to propose new projects targeted to provide growth opportunities in traditional and adjacent markets · Apply statistical methods to investigate problems and analyze results · Organize objectives, set milestones and deliver results against aggressive timelines ## **Minimum Requirements** · MS/PhD Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Coatings is preferred. Serious consideration will be given to degreed candidates in other science related fields with applicable formulation experience. · Must have at least 10 years of practical R&D experience · Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Coatings formulation is mandatory for this position · An understanding of chemical manufacturing as it relates to coatings, resins or polymers is a plus · Knowledge of color/dispersion chemistry, resin chemistry, pre-treatments
