What They're Looking For.
Must Have
7+ years of product management experience, meaningful time spent building API products, developer tools, or AI-powered products, worked on things that are largely invisible to end users but critically important to the people who use them, understand what it means to build for developers and technical users, thrive in a culture where leadership is deeply engaged, can take a nascent product area with real traction and turn it into a coherent strategy with a clear roadmap
Nice to Have
genuinely excited about what's happening in AI right now and are actively building with these tools, have side projects, have opinions about where agents are going, used MCP, not waiting for someone to tell you what's possible
What You'll Do.
Own the roadmap for Mercury's API and drive it from niche
read-heavy usage toward a comprehensive platform that enables customers to build on top of Mercury
Define Mercury's strategy for connecting to the broader ecosystem of AI tools and developer platforms including how we expose capabilities
what integrations we prioritize
and how we become a first-class citizen in agentic workflows
Lead the product vision for how AI transforms the way people interact with their finances inside Mercury: from asking questions about their business to taking action on their behalf
Develop a deep understanding of how Mercury's most technical customers use our API today
and what they're trying to do that they can't yet
Partner with engineering to make hard technical tradeoffs about API design
Work closely with Mercury's growth and partnerships teams to ensure our API and AI products are a competitive advantage in acquisition and retention
Navigate a high-velocity environment where leadership cares deeply about this space and expects you to move fast and think originally

Full Job Description
At Mercury, we are building the banking* stack for startups and doing so with a focus on building a high-craft, simple, and powerful product experience. We believe the future of financial software is infrastructure that works on your behalf. Mercury's API is how our most ambitious customers interact with us programmatically: pulling transaction data, managing accounts, and increasingly, connecting Mercury to AI-powered workflows through integrations like MCP. We're building toward a Mercury that customers and AI agents can talk to, ask questions of, and take action through. We're looking for a product manager to own Mercury's API, our integrations with the broader AI and developer tool ecosystem, and the AI-powered product experiences we're building to make Mercury programmable and intelligent. This is a role for someone who's been building in the API and AI space already and who sees the opportunity to make a bank programmable as one of the most interesting product problems available right now. *Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank.
