What They're Looking For.
Must Have
6+ years of professional software engineering experience across frontend and backend systems, 4+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade full stack applications, 3+ years of experience working with modern frontend frameworks such as React and TypeScript, 3+ years of backend development experience with technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Node. js, Python, or similar, 3+ years of experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, 2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, Proven experience working within a venture capital-backed startup environment based in the US or UK, Experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth product organisations with evolving priorities and rapid delivery cycles, Proven experience building and scaling complex software systems in production environments, understanding of scalable architecture, system design, data structures, and maintainable software engineering practices, Practical experience using AI development tools and LLM platforms such as OpenAI, Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar within day-to-day engineering workflows, Experience integrating APIs and third-party systems into production applications, product mindset with the ability to balance technical decisions against customer and business outcomes, Experience working in cross-functional product environments alongside Product Managers, Designers, and stakeholders, Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from idea through production delivery, communication and collaboration skills, Pragmatic engineering approach with problem-solving capability and sound technical judgment, Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, delivery-focused attitude
