Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 06/17/2026 ** _About this opportunity:_** Cenovus Energy is now seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead the process safety initiatives to support a zero-harm work environment by mitigating risk and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to address process safety issues at our Toledo Refinery. **_What you’ll do:_** * Ensure regulatory compliance with U.S. process safety requirements, including OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) * Lead and support refinery process safety programs, providing technical safety and engineering expertise across PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MAH, and Management of Change (MOC) * Drive continuous improvement of process safety systems, workflows, and assurance mechanisms to ensure consistent and effective implementation * Serve as a change agent, embedding process safety principles across the organization and influencing stakeholders at all levels * Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses, identifying lessons learned and preventing recurrence of major incidents * Coordinate and oversee audits (internal, third party, insurance), ensuring gap identification, tracking, and timely close out of corrective actions * Partner with site leadership and HSE leadership to identify and mitigate key risks, advance safety systems, and set, measure, and analyze occupational and process safety performance goals ​ ** _Who you are:_** * Legally authorized to work in the US * Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Safety/Environmental discipline * 8+ years experience in process engineering, technical safety, or process safety engineering in oil and gas or chemicals * Subject matter expert of US regulations, specifically the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the Process Safety Management Standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP Rule * In depth familiarity with MOC, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, and major accident hazard (MAH) methodologies a
