Legally authorized to work in US, Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Safety/Environmental discipline, 8+ years experience in process engineering, technical safety, or process safety engineering in oil and gas or chemicals, Subject matter expert of US regulations, OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910. 119), EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), In depth familiarity with MOC, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, and MAH methodologies, Demonstrated experience in facilitating MOC, HAZOP/PHA, and LOPA, Proficient in Root Cause Analysis methodologies

Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 06/17/2026 ** _About this opportunity:_** Cenovus Energy is now seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead the process safety initiatives to support a zero-harm work environment by mitigating risk and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to address process safety issues at our Toledo Refinery. **_What you’ll do:_** * Ensure regulatory compliance with U.S. process safety requirements, including OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) * Lead and support refinery process safety programs, providing technical safety and engineering expertise across PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MAH, and Management of Change (MOC) * Drive continuous improvement of process safety systems, workflows, and assurance mechanisms to ensure consistent and effective implementation * Serve as a change agent, embedding process safety principles across the organization and influencing stakeholders at all levels * Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses, identifying lessons learned and preventing recurrence of major incidents * Coordinate and oversee audits (internal, third party, insurance), ensuring gap identification, tracking, and timely close out of corrective actions * Partner with site leadership and HSE leadership to identify and mitigate key risks, advance safety systems, and set, measure, and analyze occupational and process safety performance goals ** _Who you are:_** * Legally authorized to work in the US * Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Safety/Environmental discipline * 8+ years experience in process engineering, technical safety, or process safety engineering in oil and gas or chemicals * Subject matter expert of US regulations, specifically the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the Process Safety Management Standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA RMP Rule * In depth familiarity with MOC, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, and major accident hazard (MAH) methodologies a
